In my faith it’s a big deal for a kid to turn 8. We call it Great to be Eight because they will be baptized. For us turning Eight is the age of accountability. So in celebration of that we like to do a portrait session in their suit or pretty dress. This one is extra special because it’s my oldest son’s Great to be Eight session done in Dallas at the LDS Temple. Couldn’t be more grateful for this child and his incredible sweetness. What a gift to be his mother!
So fun to have a beach session in this part of Texas, more of a rarity and I love it. We made sure to be up early so the light would be lovely and it all worked out so well. What a fun session with such adorable and sweet little boys. And the cute fedora hats just made the shoot, way to go Mom!!! Such a pleasure to meet this sweet and loving family.
I LOVE THIS FAMILY!!!! Ok so how cute is this, I show up to the session and sweet little Austin hands me a sandwich HE made for me for my ride home. I just melted!!! I have been doing his pics since he was just starting to walk and then I got to meet baby Katelyn! I loved every minute and couldn’t stop laughing and smiling at his cuteness. Kids are so awesome, you never know what they will say or do. love that!!! Plus he calls me Auntie Amanda so seriously I am just wrapped around his little finger. Thanks you guys for another amazing session. Your family just grows more and more beautiful and full of sweetness!

Meet the McDonald family. I had the pleasure of meeting them a few weeks ago when I photographed this amazing military homecoming. It was the most touching family reunion I have ever seen. First of all Dave hadn’t seen his lovely wife Melakeh in 1 year. His little boy Everett was 1 1/2 when he left and he had never held or met his baby Easton who is now 6 moths old. So you can just imagine how much emotion was felt with this reunion. Few times do I tear up during a session let alone have tears just streaming down my cheeks. But I was so overcome watching their love for one another and excitement to be reunited that I just couldn’t hold it in!
Dave arrived 2 hours earlier than we expected. So that first image is him still waiting for his sweet family to arrive. And the next his pure joy when he starts heading towards the car. Him picking up Everett (the older son) out of the car and so happy that he remember that this was his Daddy!! It touched me so deeply because I can’t imagine worrying if your son will remember you and be excited to see you again. He was and couldn’t stop grinning from ear to ear seeing his awesome Daddy again. And then he went to Easton, holding both boys for a moment and just hugging as a family. When he held Easton alone for the first time it was the most emotional moment of the entire morning. Dave said to his son “I’m your Daddy” and I tell you I just couldn’t stop crying. The rest of the images are Dave holding Everett while he walked back and forth getting his luggage to the car – you could tell Dave didn’t want to put him down. And then his sweet son handing his Dad a flag – I melted!!! Enjoy the rest of the images. Thank you so much McDonald Family for your amazing sacrifice you have made for our country. I am so grateful for all members of the military past and present for their service. And thank you for letting me be part of this special moment when your family became whole again. It was the most beautiful thing to witness and touched me more than you know.
